TEGU updates in 2024

Strategy

  1. The main direction of TEGU 2024 is extensive (horizontal) development of functionality in order to bring it closer to MS Exchange capabilities (possible within standard IMAP/SMTP/DAV protocols).
    • The result has been achieved, even more than achieved.
    • At the system level TEGU stability and scalability is not lower (but actually higher) than MS Exchange.
    • At the functional level about 95% of functions are realized (further hindered by the shortcomings of standard protocols).
    • Actual lag at the client level (again due to IMAP/SMTP limitations).
  2. The main directions of TEGU development in 2025 are intensive (innovative) development of functionality in order to fully realize the Exchang+Outlook pair on the basis of 2TMTP, as well as the realization of fundamentally new features.

Implemented changes in 2024

  • Server-side:
    • Fundamentally new engine for the web interface of the administrator and users (design, structure, prerequisites for the development of dialog functions (see scheduling assistant))
    • Interface structure redesigned for multitenant scenario.
    • There is a new block “routing”, which develops functions for processing incoming and outgoing messages both at MTA and MDA stages and during an SMTP session. Thus TEGU is not only a mail server but also a mail router (see documentation ).
    • Mailbox maintenance functions have been developed (export, migration and renaming functions for both mailboxes and domains have been added).
    • The second-level Recycle Bin has been implemented (auto-mounting and management on behalf of the user).
    • Implemented a lot of new features (limitation of correspondence intensity, limitation of client access from subnets, premoderation, etc.).
    • Integration with VCS and any resource systems is being finalized during the current month.
    • The new proprietary 2TMTP protocol is fully realized and implemented in the code.
    • API development for 2TMTP is almost completed.
    • Started development of own web and desktop clients (horizon 2025).
  • On the client side:
    • Along with the ability to unshare IMAP folders, calendars and address books, there is now the ability to shard an account.

    • Deletion of selected message across the entire domain
    • Round trip email notification based on the results of resource sharings
    • Auto-add header and footer to message
    • Archive mailboxes (not counted in license, read-only)

    • Publishing dynamic calendar of user’s free time via external link
    • Integration with VCS
  • December
    • Event Scheduler
    • Role model of administration

Plans for 2025

  • Finalize development of our own clients for web, Linux and Android.
    • Implementation of all (total) Outlook features.
    • Development of alternative mail reading methods (chat).
    • Realization of fundamentally new methods of work for e-mail (ticket system etc).
  • Implementation of file storage.
